Local newspaper stated that the "Green Christmas" we have just experienced in Quebec near the sea shore is yet another proof of Global Warming and that people should surrender their rights and powers over to the World Economic Forum group and its agenda. Give the WEF funds to implement weather engineering technologies and tamper even more with climate, all in the name of fighting its changing nature.
I live in the mentioned place.
First of all. "Green Christmas" is inaccurate. "Green" was a carefully chosen word because it evokes pictures of lush tropical vegetation in the middle of Winter. But a more precise description of our conditions would be a "Brown Christmas", as most of the vegetation (with the exception of trees of course) actually has nothing but dead aerial parts that have been killed by multiple frosts, forcing the few plants that are lucky to have evolve an underground tuber to concentrate the energy underground while the above-ground parts either dry up or wither.
Secondly, lack of snow at Christmas in southern Quebec is not an appropriate proof of Global Warming. Snow requires evaporation, usually from the Great Lakes in our case, which becomes clouds in the atmosphere and then nucleate into snowflakes that can reach the ground as such only if temperature of the ground is around or below zero Celsius. A lack of snow is not a proof of Global Warming, because lack of snow can be caused by lack of evaporation, which can be caused by extreme cold, as seen in polar regions (it rarely snows there, in fact Antarctica is home to a large desert).
Finally: who are you, dear WEF, to decide what's good for us? Harsh cold, at least here in Quebec, are associated with drastic damage to the local ecosystem, as animals (many of them endangered species) struggle to keep warm and to find food. Why do you insist on "fighting climate change" and force Quebec's weather to become colder and snowy and overall compatible with your ski resort investments and your personal touristic whims while countless wildlife species struggle as a result of these conditions and perish? Earlier this year you seized massive amounts of public lands for yourselves under the pretences that you're trying to "save the elks", yet you go on and contradict yourself and request colder climatic conditions that would make it even harder for the endangered specie to survive.
Dear WEF, let our local Nature be, and let us be part of our local Nature. Your interference is not necessary.
